Liam Tang instinctively wanted to run.
Just as he raised his foot, Zhou Lin called him: "Xiao He!"
The voice was neither loud nor low, but it was extremely clear in the dark and quiet campus at the moment. Perhaps it was safer to stay in the campus than to run away. This thought flashed through Liam Tang's mind. At least the school security department was not far away, and Ethan Yang was still standing on the playground behind him. But, was Ethan Yang still on the playground? Or had he left?
Zhou Lin walked towards him and reached out to try to pull his arm.
Liam Tang dodged, he took two steps to the side, turned his body slightly towards the playground, then quickly glanced at the playground. Ethan Yang was still there. He couldn't explain why, but he felt a little relieved.
He took a deep breath calmly, looked at Zhou Lin and asked, "Teacher Zhou, why are you here?"
"I came to see you. I took a special leave." Zhou Lin's crew cut looked fresh and neat, but it didn't make him look much cleaner. He looked at Liam Tang awkwardly and said, "You, your classmates said you transferred here, so I wanted to come and see you."
"You wanted to follow me yesterday." Liam Tang tried his best to look calm. He took two steps towards the old tree next to him that had not yet sprouted new buds, and leaned against the tree with one side of his body - in fact, he just wanted to face the playground to make sure that Ethan Yang had not left.
"Who picked you up yesterday?" Zhou Lin followed closely, his back to the playground, trying to get closer to Liam Tang, "I saw a man pick you up, and you got on that car. What's your relationship?"
"What does it have to do with you?" Liam Tang said, looking in the direction of the playground, "Stay away from me."
He saw Ethan Yang was also looking at him.
Ethan Yang was leaning against the basketball hoop drinking water. When their eyes met, he smiled in an ambiguous way. Then he drank the water slowly while looking in the direction of Liam Tang with interest.
---That look must have misunderstood something. Liam Tang's nails dug into the flesh of his palm.
---Perhaps no matter what Zhou Lin does to him now, Ethan Yang will just watch from afar.
"What are you looking at?" Zhou Lin looked back along his line of sight, then quickly turned his head back. He raised his arms, as if he wanted to walk over and hug Liam Tang.
"My brother is watching us." Liam Tang took a step back and said suddenly.
Zhou Lin was stunned and stopped just as he was about to raise his foot: "What?"
"Didn't anyone tell you? He's my brother, my half brother." Liam Tang tried his best to sound as calm as possible and lowered his voice, "You can look back. On the playground behind you to your left, he is looking at us."
His expression and tone were so calm, as if he was stating something certain, that Zhou Lin looked back again.
In the dim sky, at a distance of more than ten meters, Zhou Lin could not see Ethan Yang's expression at the moment. He only vaguely saw a tall boy leaning against the basketball hoop, looking at him mysteriously.
Early spring has not yet arrived and the cold is still oppressive, but the boy is only wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt. The immature muscle lines on his arms are particularly arrogant against the deepening twilight.
There were a few boys around him who were about the same height as him and they seemed to have a good relationship with him.
This glance really made Zhou Lin's heart jump. He didn't dare to stare at the man for too long, so he turned to Liam Tang and asked half-doubtfully: "Is he your brother?"
"Do you need me to call you?" Liam Tang said, pinching the cold sweat on his palms, "If I call him over, it may not be as simple as just watching you."
"No, that's not necessary." Zhou Lin said. He had obviously given up the idea of coming over to hug Liam Tang.
"Then you go now," Liam Tang secretly breathed a sigh of relief, "I want to wait for my brother to go home together."
"Oh, oh," Zhou Lin responded hesitantly, "Xiao He, I have no ill will towards you, I just like you, really, I was wrong before, I couldn't control myself..."
"You're not leaving, are you?" Liam Tang turned his gaze to the playground, took a breath, and pretended to call Ethan Yang over.
He clenched the hand that he had put into his school uniform pocket into a fist again. He had already made up his mind. If Zhou Lin insisted on pestering him, he would go all out and beat Zhou Lin up here. He couldn't say for sure whether he could beat Zhou Lin, but at least it would alert the security department not far away.
"Don't shout, I'm leaving." Zhou Lin looked at him humbly and said, "I'll come to see you on Friday."
Liam Tang said nothing and looked at him coldly.
After Zhou Lin lowered his head and hurried away, a few minutes later, he leaned against the tree trunk and let out a long breath.
When he looked up towards the basketball hoop, Ethan Yang was standing with his back to him, bending down to pick up the clothes beside him, as if he was preparing to leave.
He just lied and took advantage of Ethan Yang, Liam Tang thought, but it doesn’t matter, Ethan Yang won’t know because he won’t mind his own business now.
He grabbed the strap of his schoolbag and ran out of the school gate. There was a bus stop at the gate, and it was about to close the door, but when it saw him running over, it opened the door again.
Liam Tang ran over, jumped on the bus, picked a seat by the window, turned around and watched the bus pass by the school gate and the deserted basketball court opposite the school gate.
It was almost 7:30 when he got home. The food was on the table. Alexander Yang and Grace Tang were sitting on the sofa waiting for him. The boring news broadcast was playing on TV.
"You're back so late today?" Upon seeing him coming back, Grace Tang immediately stood up to greet him, "Is there really someone following you?"
"No," Liam Tang put his bag aside, "I had an exam in the last class, so I ended the get out of class half an hour late."
"Oh, take off your school uniform and come to eat." He lied very well, so Grace Tang did not suspect him and took Liam Tang's school uniform and asked, "Will the homework in No. 1 Middle School be harder than that in No. 3 Middle School?"
"It's all the same." Liam Tang walked towards the dining table.
"Your uncle Chen didn't pick you up tonight, and thought you left first." Alexander Yang's eyes moved from the news broadcast on TV to his face. He was slightly nearsighted, and the way he wore a pair of silver-rimmed glasses reminded Liam Tang of the term "beast in human clothing."
"There is a special school bus line at the school gate, so I don't have to bother Uncle Chen to pick me up every day," Liam Tang said. "The school's evening dismissal time may not be so fixed."
Grace Tang looked up at him and said angrily, "Someone picked you up and you're not happy about it."
Liam Tang sat upright at the table and calmly retorted, "Someone came to cook for you, but you didn't seem to be happy about it."
Grace Tang's face changed slightly. He was about to say something when he was interrupted by Alexander Yang: "Jun He is more sensible than Xiao Ethan Yang. Since you insist, I will tell Uncle Chen that he doesn't need to pick you up every day."
Liam Tang nodded and said, "Yes."
"Here, but keep this." Alexander Yang came over and put a brand new mobile phone on the table in front of him. It was the latest model advertised on TV. Liam Tang recognized it at a glance.
"Thank you," he said, evasively, "but I... I don't really need a cell phone."
"Just take it," Grace Tang said, "and if you come home late at night, call me and let me know. It will be more convenient."
Alexander Yang sat down at the dining table and said, "Take it. Your mother's number is already entered in it. Your brother's and my number are also in it."
Liam Tang didn't say anything else and lowered his head to start eating.
After finishing his meal, he returned to his room, spread his homework on the table, and was stunned for a while, but did nothing.
After a few minutes, he reached out and took the silver phone, flipped through the memo, and deleted Alexander Yang's number. Then he clicked on Ethan Yang's number, selected delete, and was about to press the confirm button when his hand paused, turned off the screen, and put the phone back.
Forget it, Liam Tang thought, he won’t be using this phone anyway.
