On January 17, 2003, American Airlines Flight 384 crashed at Seattle-Tacoma Airport while taking off from New York City and heading to Seattle.
The direct cause of the accident was bad weather.
American Airlines Flight 384 was a flight that afternoon. According to the normal flight schedule, it should have landed at around 4 p.m. But it was snowing heavily in Seattle that day, and the blizzard delayed more than 100 flights. After circling in the air for an hour, American Airlines Flight 384 finally landed with the permission of the controller. However, tragedy happened at the moment of landing.
American Airlines Flight 384 landed on its nose, ran off the runway and crashed into the grass beside the runway.
In the investigation report issued by the NTSB afterwards, in addition to bad weather, the incorrect operation of co-pilot Michael Harrison was also one of the causes of the air crash.
