The scroll in Xie Ying's hand was wider than the usual scrolls, and it was not neatly rolled up, but rolled from both sides to the center, like a scroll book that was casually rolled up. He spread the painting on the table, moved the scroll with both hands, and slowly revealed the magnificent hall in the center of the scroll.
Under the eaves of the palace, a plaque with the words "Lingxiao Palace" is gilded. The palace is covered with purple gauze like clouds and smoke, and incense burners and treasured beasts are displayed on both sides. The Jade Emperor in a golden crown and brocade clothes sits in front of the painting screen at the top, and behind him there is a fairy with a high bun holding a fan. The more you look down, the wider the space between the jade pillars on both sides of the palace becomes, as if you are standing outside the palace in person, looking at the throne through the huge and spacious palace.
In the hall between the imperial desk and the man viewing the painting, there were two teams of gods and Buddhas who came to celebrate the birthday. On the left were Tathagata, the four great Bodhisattvas, and several Arhats; on the right was the Queen Mother with the Jade Maiden and the fairy baby, carrying a basket full of peaches.
Although the immortals and Buddhas were walking towards the palace, Tathagata and Queen Mother both turned their heads and seemed to be talking to the people behind them with a smile. However, the two pairs of eyes were not looking behind them, but outside the picture. Eunuch Gao looked at the painting from the front and had the illusion that the two immortals and Buddhas were looking at him with a smile, inviting him to enter the palace.
Eunuch Gao stared at the painting intently and said, "Is this painting still the same one painted by the talented scholar last time? This hall is beautifully painted, as if inviting people to ascend to heaven and enjoy the feast of the gods together!"
