There was no top scorer or winner of the imperial examination in the restaurant, and he was considered the most proud of being ranked eighth. Everyone started to urge him to recite essays and give guidance to the failed students on how to write essays.

Some of these scholars in Qian'an were his predecessors who had instructed him in the past, and some had revised his articles. At that time, I only felt that his contemporary articles were full of ideas and powerful, but the text was not polished; now listening to his articles again, it is amazing that he has been reborn---Zhiyi's articles are a combination of parallel and prose. When he wrote articles before, the prose sentences of breaking, continuing, starting and connecting were often powerful, but the parallel sentences were only two or three sentences long, and it would be difficult to make them neat; but the parallel prose in this test text is carefully polished, leisurely and wonderful. Not to mention the clear and winding spirit and the brilliant inspiration of the eight comparisons, even the sentence of starting, which could have been passed off as a prose sentence, he actually laid out the parallel sentence style:
