Ryan Cui remembered that after Hongzhi ascended the throne, the court was basically full of honest and upright ministers. Although he didn't know how Liu Shoufu, the famous "paper-made three cabinet ministers", got to where he is today, no matter how he thought about it, his days as the prime minister would not be long. So the hand-made animation machine had to be made quickly, at least when the old prime minister retired, he had to let people take it home.
He was also moving to a new house, and had already asked the carpenter who made the boxes for the Western scenery to make furniture for the Imperial Lecture Hall. Since he was going to make a projector for Prime Minister Liu, he could not make new furniture there for the time being, but dismantle the old furniture here and use it, and ask the carpenter to make a box like this.
Ryan Cui sat in front of a box with crystal pieces, put his eyes on the crystal pieces, pulled the long rope on the side of the box, and watched the pictures inside rotate, gradually speeding up, pulling into a string of blurred blocks of color, and then condensing into a clear picture at a certain rhythm. The characters on the picture changed simple movements, and they could only complete one or two moves in one circle. If you want the animation to last longer, you have to enlarge the wheel and reduce the picture on it.
But both of these have limits.
If the picture is too small, Liu Shoufu's presbyopic eyes may not be able to see it clearly; if the wheel is too big, it will not rotate smoothly enough, and if it rotates too slowly, the picture will be stuck and not coherent enough... He took out a pen and paper to write down his requirements and the contradictions he thought of, folded them into a piece of letter paper and slapped it on the desk, and asked the cook to give it to the carpenter when he went to deliver food to the craftsmen of the new house tomorrow.
