Alden's eyes widened in anger.
"I think your place is cuter than the chocolates Nicky sent." Ellis's voice was very soft, but like a cello string being slowly tightened, with a hint of ambiguity in the low tone.
Alden couldn't have felt worse.
"Drink some water," said Ellis soothingly.
"Oh..." Alden took the water glass, but the next words Ellis said almost made him collapse.
