After Yuan Pingyi was executed, Yuan Xijiang traveled to Yinjiang to retrieve his son's ashes and buried them in his hometown cemetery in December of the same year. However, his fellow villagers regarded this murderer who tarnished the name of his hometown as a sinner for all eternity.
On the second day after Yuan Pingyi was buried, his coffin was dug out from the ground by several chivalrous fellow villagers, and his ashes were scattered all over the lime ground, like falling snow.
Yuan Xijiang picked up the ashes from the ground with great grief, knelt in front of the black-haired man's grave and cried for a whole day, then went home holding the urn.
According to the old woman, his cataracts took root at that time. A month later, a woman with a foreign accent found Yuan Xijiang, left a sum of money, and took away Yuan Pingyi's ashes, saying that since his hometown could not accommodate him, she would take him to another place for burial.
She had only met the woman once. The woman's origins and whereabouts were unknown. She just took away Yuan Pingyi's ashes and promised to bury him properly. She never came back.
