"......What's good about it?" Mason Gu asked Qi Shu.
"It's not a reading companion, it's a tutor." Qi Shu thought he didn't express it clearly. The difference between a reading companion and a tutor is just one word, but the responsibilities and status are worlds apart.
A companion reader accompanies the prince in reading, while a tutor lectures to the prince. The former is usually the son of a minister or the nephew of a co*c*b*ne, and has no rank or official position, while the latter is a national civil servant with a rank, the fifth rank, which is one level higher than the sixth rank awarded to Mason Gu, the top scholar.
A prince actually has many teachers in his life, but the one that people generally know is the title of Taifu. But in fact, how can one teacher reflect the preciousness of the prince's identity?
Nowadays, there is one teacher for n students, and the students are already complaining bitterly. But in ancient times, there was one prince for n teachers. The one with the most power was the Taifu, who was held by a contemporary great scholar, but in fact he hardly taught at all, and was a bit like a principal. The names of the teachers under the Taifu were very confusing. The teacher in Dayong was called Shaofu, which was the head teacher, and was only responsible for the head teacher of one prince; under Shaofu were the different teachers for each subject. Note that it was a master, not a teacher. The difference was huge. There were two to three teachers for each subject, and they took turns to teach, which was the modern teacher of each subject; below the master were the lecturers and readers.
