Most of the generals of the Xia State were from the north and were of commoner origin, so they knew little about the South.
But looking at the map now, the Ming Dynasty’s territory in the south is so vast.
Moreover, the Ming court had been in power for many years, so it should be extremely difficult to conquer it. Even if it was conquered, there would still be a bunch of bureaucrats that would be difficult to deal with.
This was indeed the case in history. After the death of Emperor Chongzhen, the Ming court still had a huge foundation south of the Yangtze River.
It is fully capable of mobilizing millions of troops.
