Caleb Lu was confused.

It took him a long time to find his voice again, and he asked tremblingly: "...Why? Isn't it a sacred object presented by foreign countries as tribute?"

Seeing the young man's expression, Damien Luan frowned, put down the document in his hand, and motioned for him to sit down on the chair in front of him first.

Caleb Lu sat down obediently, his fingers still unconsciously clenching his palms, staring at Damien Luan with a look that was half pleading and half expectant, as if he hoped that he would tell him that this was a misunderstanding, or that there was still room for redemption.

Damien Luan couldn't bear to look at those clear eyes. He was silent for a moment and said slowly, "The emperor believes that the snow wolf missed the auspicious time for sacrifice and caused the prime minister's son to commit a heinous mistake. It is not the divine creature that the foreign people say it is."
