On the day we left, the snowstorm in northern Xinjiang finally stopped.
The sky was clear, and the sun shone on the white snow covering the whole city. The victims who had been resettled earlier took to the streets, and the city gradually regained some vitality, presenting a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.
It seemed as if all the tragic scenes I had seen on the road before had been covered by the heavy snow and had become a thing of the past.
But Caleb Lu knew that these were just illusions on the surface.
Those dead bones beneath the frozen soil will not disappear, and perhaps they will return again after the next snowstorm.
