The old bed board made a sound similar to the stairs, muffled under the layers of mattresses, making people afraid to move. Owen Travis was stiff, one hand on the pillow, the other hand still pressed under the pillow after stuffing the phone.

Liam Harris was completely attached to his back, with two layers of clothes blocking their way, his shoulders rubbing against his collarbone, his scapulae against his chest, leaving only a narrow gap between his sunken lower back and his abdominal muscles.
