In June of the first year of Yuanguang, the imperial court's decree to select filial and honest officials and the order to recruit talents were spread to all counties and states. Local officials did not dare to neglect it and sent people to all counties and towns, and everyone in the villages and towns heard about it.
The content of the imperial edict spread across the country, and a large number of talented people flocked to Chang'an.
Among them are recommended sons of noble families, as well as great sages from the countryside who live in seclusion in the mountains and focus on learning. Regardless of the former or the latter, anyone who has the confidence to meet the emperor and accept the emperor's personal questioning must be talented and virtuous, and is definitely not a mediocre person.
However, with so many people coming, some trouble is bound to arise.
During the Spring and Autumn Period, hundreds of schools of thought contended with each other. According to historical records alone, there were nearly 200 schools of thought whose theories and articles survived. The fact that the rest did not leave any articles does not mean that their theories were discontinued. No one can guarantee that, as the recruitment order was issued to all counties, no inheritor of any school of thought would suddenly appear.
