Harper' impression of Mason in the original book is that he is an absolute face lover.
Mason has liked beautiful things since he was a child. He pursued and liked Ellie because Ellie was very beautiful and an excellent person, and it was prestigious to take her out. He also wanted to satisfy the pitiful sense of superiority that men have outside.
So this kind of character is not even the second male lead, let alone the male lead.
What she didn't expect was that when Mason saw her, he would come over to greet her like an idiot.
He kept chattering in front of her and asking her a lot of random questions, like he was checking her household registration.
