The guests in the restaurant left in twos and threes. Another table next door got up. The sound of chairs gently dragging on the ground sounded. Reid tilted his head and saw Everly standing on the edge of the table, blinking at him, her fingers resting. On the back of the chair, it looked like he was going to pull that seat away and sit down.
“Why are you looking at me like this?” Everly sat down holding Pearl, not understanding Reid’s surprised and happy expression.
Everly didn’t know what kind of ups and downs Reid’s mood had gone through during this waiting time. She did not come, he was disappointed and sad, she came, he was surprised and happy. It seemed that there was a ball in my heart, and it filled up again when I was discouraged.
Reid’s Adam’s apple rolled up and down, raised his hand and took the towel under Pearl’s chin. He carefully rolled the towel under her clothes and said with a slight smile: “I thought…you won’t come over.”
He thought she would stay there…
