At 11:53 pm, Theo Hammond came out of a residential area. A middle-aged man walked him to the door and said, "Young man, think about it. My house is much cheaper than other houses in the same area. If it weren't for my daughter's schooling and the money needed, I would have to rent out the house in a hurry and raise the rent by 20%."
Theo Hammond had been running around for days, and fatigue was evident in his eyes. He smiled at the man and said, "I'll think about it and call you back."
As soon as he left the neighborhood, he received a call from the previous landlord, who told him that they agreed to the rent he offered and that they could sign the contract tomorrow.
Theo Hammond walked on the quiet sidewalk, occasionally passing one or two pedestrians on their way home at night. Looking at the street lights stretching into the distance on both sides of the road, he thought for a while and finally refused the landlord's request on the pretext that it was inconvenient for him to go to work.
After hanging up the phone, he put the phone in his coat pocket. The cold night wind made him tighten the collar of his coat.
