Jason Jiang arrived at Sam's house at noon - although Sam behaves like a loser, his family is actually quite wealthy.
His grandfather was an explorer. Explorers in that era were basically bandits. They explored the world, either robbing graves or burning, killing, and looting. Few of them did anything humane.
Such a person can easily accumulate a considerable fortune.
But Sam was very strict with his parents. For example, in the plot, when he bought his first car, they only bought him a 4,000 dollar Chevrolet.
