As Carol said, the Seven Lantern Corps and the like are indeed the self-appointed cosmic police - of course, they do do things, and that cannot be denied.
After all, the universe is not a unified regime. Naturally, most of the various organizations and titles that dominate the universe are self-proclaimed; otherwise, they have performed some earth-shaking feats and obtained some relatively recognized titles.
Naturally, there will be supporters of this approach, and there will also be people who will despise it.
Take the Green Lanterns for example. They are always "meddling in other people's business". In the eyes of many cosmic civilizations, these guys are just too bored and have nothing to do.
After all, no one likes forces that do not belong to them to cause trouble within their own territory - even if it is something that is in favor of order, because this infringes on their territory and power.
