Chu Xingzhou and Rong Lan used the hotel as their base and spent the darkest days after the earthquake. That was the peak period of human death, with corpses everywhere, people bitten to death, starved to death, frozen to death, and died of infection. The people who were alive not long ago were now lying dead on the streets like wild dogs. The whole city was like a hell on earth.

Because of the unexpected discovery of the mutant ability, the two of them could at least ensure that they would not starve to death. They would choose to go out hunting when the light was good during the day, and stay in the hotel at night. Since food could not be preserved for too long, they could only eat one meal a day. A week later, the hotel's water supply was cut off. They had prepared in advance and stored a lot of water, but the water began to stink after three days, forcing them to leave the hotel and find a place close to a flowing water source.

The two packed their backpacks and left the hotel anxiously. They decided to go to the highway exit to find a car that could be driven. Since all the roads in the city were either blocked or covered with weeds, they could only hope that the highway was still open.

They avoided several waves of danger along the way, but still encountered several attacks from mutant animals, all of which were solved by Chu Xingzhou. Chu Xingzhou's power was increasing day by day. Although this rapid expansion method could make people stronger and stronger, the speed was too fast after all, which made them very worried that this power would suddenly backfire.

After walking for more than an hour, they saw the first living person of the day - a young woman. The woman ran towards them from the opposite side of the street, with dishevelled hair and a dirty white dress. She walked unsteadily, as if she would fall at any time.
