The aircraft crashed to the ground and stopped moving with a hum.

Hein and Zoe came to the hatch, guns raised and on guard. Whoever stepped out of the hatch would have their heads blown off.

The hatch opened, but what was unexpected was that countless zombies crowded at the hatch and scrambled to get out.

"Oh Sh!t---"

Aaron drew out his double blades and started slashing.

Several zombies ran towards Ethan Xiao, making low whimpering sounds.

"Stand up! Run!" Zoe shouted at Ethan Xiao.

Death was imminent. Ethan Xiao didn't know where he got the strength from. He held the heavy box in his left hand and smashed it hard on the face of the oncoming zombie. With the sound of shattering, the zombie's brain splashed out. The next zombie had already come in front of him. Ethan Xiao had no weapons and no fighting power. He could only watch its yellow teeth exposed in its mouth that was almost cracked. Just when Ethan Xiao was about to close his eyes to welcome his fate, a sharp blade pierced out of its mouth and stopped less than one centimeter away from the tip of Ethan Xiao's nose.

My heart almost stopped.

The sound of the sharp blade being pulled out pierced Ethan Xiao's nerves. The zombies fell down, the darkness was cut open, and at the end of Ethan Xiao's sight was Hai Yin's indifferent face.

This man penetrated deeply into Ethan Xiao's mind unshakably, ruling him firmly and making him in awe.

Behind Hain was a pile of zombie corpses.

In less than a minute, all the zombies that escaped from the aircraft were cleared out.

Aaron kicked open the cockpit door and shouted, "Boss---"

Hai Yin turned around and lowered his brows slightly. Ethan Xiao was just an insignificant existence to him.

Two Tide Matts have committed suicide.

"Ethan Xiao, how are you?" Zoe rushed to Ethan Xiao and looking at his pale and bloodless face she knew that he was seriously injured.

"...Where's Daniel Captain?"

Ethan Xiao hadn't seen Daniel Captain since then.

Zoe pursed her lips. Ethan Xiao followed Zoe's line of sight and saw Daniel Captain lying under a tree with blood all over his face.

Ethan Xiao covered his shoulder and stumbled to the tree, where he found that Daniel Captain's head had been shot. Ethan Xiao put his fingers on Daniel Captain's neck. His body was still warm, but his pulse had stopped.

Ethan Xiao lowered his head and sobs began to form in his throat.

This was the first time that he saw his companion die in front of him. Ethan Xiao, who grew up in the greenhouse of Shire, finally smelled the unique scent of blood, a heavy smell similar to rust. It was warm, but deep in his mind he felt a bone-chilling cold.

"Ethan Xiao, we must rush to Base 14 immediately."

"Yeah." Ethan Xiao nodded.

"We still have uranium material to send back, and the sooner the better, so..."

"So we have to leave his body here." Ethan Xiao took the box from Daniel Captain and stood up shakily. "Zoe, let's go!"

He was already dead, so it was superfluous to do anything. However, the uranium raw materials in their hands were very precious to Charles.

Ethan Xiao saluted Daniel Captain's body. Just as he turned around, he found that Haiyin's fingers were clenched and pressed against her forehead. The moment she put them down, it was as if she had cut off everything in the past, but she was extremely solemn.

The same goes for Aaron and Zoe.

No matter how much the special mission forces look down on technical soldiers, they always respect their compatriots who have sacrificed their lives.

"Let's go." Zoe took the box from Ethan Xiao, and Ethan Xiao followed them laboriously.

Zoe looked back at Ethan Xiao from time to time, fearing that he would suddenly fall down.

"Hey, Zoe - if you're really that worried about him, why not give him a K!ss!"

Aaron shouted in a joking tone, but the expression on his face really showed some seriousness.

Every special forces soldier has been injected with the x-virus, which is the origin of their extraordinary mobility and healing abilities.

One K!ss was enough for Zoe to transfer the x-virus that had lost its ability to replicate after being metabolized by her body into Ethan Xiao's body, temporarily improving his body's healing ability.

Zoe sighed and came to Ethan Xiao. She put down the box, but before her fingers could touch Ethan Xiao's chin, someone came to Ethan Xiao and carried him on his shoulders.

So neat that it cannot be refused.

"Ah---" The pain when moving his shoulder almost made Ethan Xiao faint.

"Boss---" Zoe shouted in surprise.

Aaron was standing not far away, also looking like he was choked by his saliva.

Ethan Xiao then realized that the person carrying him was Lucas Hein!

He was carrying the box in both hands and his steps were very steady.

But Ethan Xiao felt extremely uncomfortable, his stomach felt so uncomfortable that he felt nauseous, and his hanging arm pulled on his broken shoulder, and the feeling of bones piercing into his muscles made Ethan Xiao's teeth chatter.

Every moment is torture.

Zoe looked at Ethan Xiao sympathetically, but was unable to move forward.

Finally, Ethan Xiao fainted from the unbearable pain.

After an unknown amount of time, Ethan Xiao felt a sense of weightlessness. When he touched the ground, his cracked shoulder was pressed down, and Ethan Xiao woke up with a start.

Only then did he realize that he was in a place similar to a passage, and the bright lights stimulated his brain nerves.

Medical staff surrounded him and lifted him onto the treatment equipment.

When he glanced sideways, he saw Hai Yin's departing back. She was still looking down on him with contempt, as if Ethan Xiao was an ant not worth mentioning, who would one day rot and decay into mud under Hai Yin's feet.

Ethan Xiao's shoulder bones were almost completely shattered. He couldn't help but suspect that Hai Yin was not just using him as a stepping stone, but more of a revenge for the unexpected K!ss.

But when Ethan Xiao learned that all the students who decided to stay in the aircraft were killed by the Chaoyong Organization, he secretly felt fortunate.

At least he's alive.

A lot of times in life is about choices. This time his choice was risky but wise.

The most gifted part of Ethan Xiao's brain is the ability to automatically filter out negative events. On a night that should have been a sleepless night, he fell asleep in just half a minute.

Medical technology is very advanced nowadays. Even if the limbs are broken and separated from the body, nerve reconnection can be performed. Besides, Ethan Xiao only suffered a comminuted fracture.

Three days later, Ethan Xiao's shoulder healed. During the days he lay in bed, he heard a lot about the gossip between Lieutenant Colonel Raven, commander of Base No. 14, and Lucas Hein.

Hein personally went out to rescue the twelve B-type students, but not only did he fail, but even the only officer, Daniel Captain, lost his life. The entire Base 14 was talking about it, believing that the students died because the special mission force neglected their duties and did not take their lives seriously. But to put it bluntly, Hein successfully broke through the attack of the Tide Organization and successfully delivered the uranium raw materials to the base, and rescuing Ethan Xiao and the others was just a temporary notification of their mission. Even if they filed a complaint with the Military Discipline Department, who would investigate Lucas Hein?

Lieutenant Colonel Raven's adjutant, Captain Jack, was a cousin of Daniel Captain. Daniel Captain's death was a great blow to him, and he sent a fierce report to Charles. Ethan Xiao, who had escaped from a desperate situation, was not interested in these disputes. As the only survivor of the team, he was assigned to another team by the commander of Base 14.

Now he just wanted to spend these few days leisurely and then return to Shire.

While he was leaning against the head of the bed listening to music, he received an order to go to the command center to report the operation to Lieutenant Colonel Raven.

It’s over… It’s over…

Ethan Xiao held his forehead, trouble finally came to him!

He straightened his uniform, making sure he looked neat and tidy, then followed the secretary into Lieutenant Colonel Raven's command room.

Lieutenant Colonel Raven looked to be in his early thirties. Although he had no outstanding achievements, he had been working at the old Base 14 for so many years and was a very steady person. In front of him was an elegant and exquisite teacup, which was still steaming.

But when Ethan Xiao saluted him, he just nodded slightly and took a sip from his teacup. Beside him stood Captain Jack, his adjutant.

"What made you choose to leave the aircraft and follow the special missions team to my base on foot?"

Without any greetings, Lieutenant Colonel Raven asked Ethan Xiao questions directly. His eyes told Ethan Xiao what information he wanted to get from him.

"I just agree with the judgment of the special task force at the time."

"Judgement? How critical was the situation at that time? Don't you know that when you leave the base, the aircraft with a stubborn shell is safer than the outside world?"

Ethan Xiao put away his fatigue. He knew that the special task force and the Central Academy of Sciences had always disliked each other. The special forces thought it was extremely unfair that the technical soldiers did not have to undergo any military training and had never seen a zombie in their entire lives, but could rise rapidly in the military and even have an extraordinary status. Most technical soldiers also sneered at the special forces, thinking that they were just zombie scavengers and had a much worse future in the military than the technical soldiers.

But these two attitudes have nothing to do with Ethan Xiao. Deep down, Ethan Xiao respects any soldier who performs his duties, regardless of their rank or unit. At this moment, he does not want to get involved in the political dispute between the academic school and the special task force.

"Report to the colonel. The supply platform where we landed had been occupied by the Surge. They fired tracking missiles at our aircraft. After we got rid of the tracking missiles, our engines overheated and lost power, forcing us to land. We suspect that the Surge's goal is uranium raw materials. If the rescue team from Base 14 cannot arrive before the Surge, we will not only lose the uranium raw materials, but also be wiped out. Therefore, Colonel Lucas Hein decided to carry the uranium raw materials and walk to Base 14. After my own analysis, I think this decision is wiser than staying in the aircraft."

Lieutenant Colonel Raven folded his arms and looked at Ethan Xiao coldly.

Ethan Xiao's expression was calm, without the slightest hesitation.

The adjutant beside Lieutenant Colonel Raven could no longer bear it and grabbed Ethan Xiao by the collar.

"You're lying! You're the only one in your team who survived! Lucas Hein must have not taken the lives of the technicians seriously!"

The other person's eyes were bloodshot, and he gritted his teeth as if he wanted to swallow Ethan Xiao alive.

"I'm sorry, Captain, I'm telling the truth."

"Facts? What are facts? Lucas Hein said that White followed you on foot with the uranium raw materials back to the base. Could it be that Lucas Hein couldn't protect you two technicians? He was simply derelict in his duty! He never thought of bringing White back alive!"

Ethan Xiao looked at the adjutant's facial features and felt that he was somewhat similar to Daniel Captain. It seemed that the rumor that Captain Jack and Daniel Captain were cousins   was true.

"Will! He's still a cadet, not a soldier." Lieutenant Colonel Raven frowned.

Ethan Xiao's collar was finally loosened.

"So he doesn't deserve to be a soldier." Captain Jack glared at Ethan Xiao fiercely.

Ethan Xiao sighed softly, but such a subtle movement was noticed by Lieutenant Colonel Raven.

"Why are you sighing?"
