Ethan Xie originally thought that a man like that would be able to have a great success no matter where he was or what name or identity he took.

But what Finn Ye described was a short and peaceful period of time.

The border was bitterly cold, and there were casualties almost every day. It was a great fortune to have only three inches of soil covering the remains of the soldiers, let alone their bodies. Three years ago, at the turn of summer and autumn, a group of new soldiers entered the border barracks. Among them was a strange man. Although he was covered in dirt, he looked neat and tidy. His right hand was injured, but he moved quickly. Even the old soldiers who had been on the battlefield for several years were no match for him.

He loved to joke and had a good temper. He was not a big shot in the military camp, but he was quite popular. He patrolled and fought with the burly men, and returned with them in tears while carrying their wounded comrades.

At the end of that year, nomadic tribes outside the Great Wall launched an invasion. Some superiors who were embezzling money withheld military pay, and the soldiers fought hastily under the hunger and cold. Although they repelled the enemy, they did not know how many lives were lost on the battlefield. The broken swords and spears were covered with cold and frozen blood, and the desolate ground was half-covered with stiff and mutilated corpses.
