The environment in the cave is extremely bad.
There is no bedding to keep out the cold, and the ground is still uneven. It’s hard to sleep. Carter feels that his bones are about to break. But the most troublesome problem is safety.
Carter didn’t dare to fall asleep at all, otherwise he wouldn’t know if he was killed by a wild beast.
