It wasn't until the car drove from the far parking lot to the street opposite the pet shop that the redness at the base of Tokawa's ears gradually disappeared.
Through a glass door, Victor's blurry and thin back was reflected in his eyes. The lingering sun in the distance was purple, coating his outline with a faint golden light.
Shikawa opened the door and got out of the car, then took out a cigarette and held it in his mouth, silently staring at the figure opposite.
Light blue smoke curled up, and then, amid the din of traffic all around, Tokikawa suddenly heard his name being called.
Looking back, I saw a man wearing gold-rimmed glasses and a meticulously tied tie.
