Samuel Osvid paused after hearing the sound, and holding back his disgust, he swept the area with the insect lamp. The path under his feet ended here, and there was no obvious trace of the road in front of him. Instead, there was a large clump of trees more than one meter tall, with thick and sharp branches, straight up, and each branch was covered with dense thorns, in clusters.
At first glance, it looked like a patch of tall, overfed thorns. However, these thorns were not solitary. The winding vines on both sides of the road wound up along the roots of the thorns, almost merging with the thorns. The fat leaves hung down in layers, completely blocking the view behind the thorns.
"This is ---" David Kevin heard Samuel Osvid speak, "Is this the end of the road? Where is the Tomb of Phaethon?"
David Kevin shook his head, took a step forward, bent down and dug around on one side of the road. He pulled apart a few vines that were tangled together, raised his chin and said, "Here is the monument."
Where his chin was pointing, there was a copper square stele, half of which was sticking out from the soil at an angle.
