On November 25, the 18th year of the Hongzhi reign, the director of the Imperial Observatory submitted the Datong calendar for the first year of the Zhengde reign and selected an auspicious day for the wedding.
The emperor received it in person in the Fengtian Hall, ordered the Hanlin Academy to copy it, and bestowed it upon civil and military officials. He then sent officials on express horses out of the capital to distribute it to all prefectures, counties and districts.
"Next year will be the first year of Zhengde, and the new calendar will be adopted."
"There is an auspicious day in the first month of the year when the emperor will get married and the ceremony of conferring the title of empress will be held."
"According to the old example of Emperor Xiaozong, we should follow the ancestral system and keep everything simple. We should not be extravagant. We should only accept congratulations from officials and ministers in the capital. The princes of various places should not bring in any local products, and they should not disturb the people in the name of looking for auspicious objects."
