Probably because people are used to using songs to answer questions and express their feelings. There are many dialogues between characters in folk songs of northern Shaanxi. Some folk songs, such as "The Golden Fan", "Shun Shun", "Girl Carrying Water", and "Rubbing Foreign Powder" etc. Basically, the entire song is structured around character dialogue.
