Only he knew how stubborn Somalia was. The Americans had only been powerful for half a year when they suffered the Black Hawk Down. Two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down by RPGs in Mogadishu and the pilots were captured. The Americans dispatched a special forces force of 160 people to rescue them, but due to intelligence errors, they were surrounded and annihilated by thousands of rebels.
The brutality of this battle shocked the whole world.
The Americans lost 19 soldiers and two helicopters, injured more than 70 people, and killed or maimed more than 3,000 Somalis.
The combat videos, especially the inhumane torture of pilots by Somali rebels, caused an uproar in the United States. The anti-war wave was overwhelming, and the Americans had no choice but to withdraw their troops.
This massive peacekeeping operation ultimately ended in failure.
