At dusk, the sun slanted westward, and night fell quietly.
Lacey put a stack of documents on the table and read from the first page to the last page. Jaxton happened to pass in front of her. She called him distractedly: “Jaxton.”
Jaxton stopped in place: “What’s wrong?”
Lacey patted another chair and motioned Jaxton to sit next to her. Just as Jaxton took a step closer, Lacey pulled up his sleeves, Jaxton raised his hand to support her, and she fell on him.
He hugged her for a while before he said: “I will go abroad on business next week.”
