In the past twenty years, Lianhua Mountain has undergone a renovation that seems to have completely changed its appearance. The streets and buildings are connected end to end, and the style is uniformly "modern", even more grand than in the city. Only the trees on the roadside have not had time to grow into green shade, vaguely revealing a bit of haste under the heavy makeup.
Elliot drove around a few times before finding the inconspicuous newsstand.
A man wearing spectacles was sitting hunched in a newsstand reading the stalls. This man could be middle-aged or old. If you just look at his face, he is probably not yet retired, but his whole body is already exposed. There was a heavy air of twilight, as if he was lingering for breath.
It was the hottest time in the afternoon, and the street was scorched by the sun. Elliot pushed his sunglasses to the top of his head and walked to the newsstand: "Get a bottle of ice-cold soda."
Hearing this, the owner of the newsstand put aside the book he was reading, bent down and picked up a bottle of cold drink covered with thick white frost and handed it over.
