Wuchen, the twelfth month of the third year of Yongle, was the day of Meng Chongjiu's funeral.
Nolan Meng rushed back to Mengjiatun one day in advance. Before he could return home, he followed Meng Guangshun to pay homage to Meng Chongjiu's tomb.
The north wind is howling and the sky is covered with heavy snow.
The door of the mourning hall was wide open, and Meng Chongjiu's children and grandchildren were all kneeling in the hall. They were all dressed in sackcloth and their voices were hoarse from crying.
There was a brazier burning in the hall, but it was still bone-chillingly cold.
