In July of the third year of Yongle, Zheng He's fleet set off from Taicang, Jiangsu, passed through Fujian and other provinces, and arrived at the first stop of the voyage, Champaign, in August.
During the Han Dynasty, Champa was once under the rule of the Central Plains and belonged to Jiaozhou. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, when the Han Dynasty declined, Annan took the opportunity to seize the throne and renamed it Linyi Kingdom.
After passing through the Sui, Tang and Song dynasties, it was defeated by the Mongolian cavalry in the Yuan Dynasty and paid tribute to the Yuan Dynasty. Kublai Khan, the founder of the Yuan Dynasty, established the Xingzhongshu Province in Champa and dispatched officials. Champa was nominally included in the territory of the Yuan Dynasty. The Yuan Dynasty was replaced by the Ming Dynasty, and the city was transferred to pay tribute to the Ming Dynasty.
In history, Champa had a glorious period. It once defeated countries such as Annan and Chenla, and occupied a dominant position in Southeast Asia.
As time went by, the ruling class was unwilling to make progress, and wars with neighboring countries continued year after year, which intensified the decline of Champa. It was not until Annan captured the capital that the halo surrounding Champa finally became dim.
