The electric fan was creaking and hot wind was blowing in from the window. Noah stepped over the book boxes piled on the floor and walked back to his seat step by step through the damp and sticky air.
But such an environment never made Noah feel irritated. He did every test paper seriously and listened to every word of the teacher. Except for the occasional Friday night self-study, he would still keep looking at the clock and staring blankly without any content. He was used to riding his bike back home on Friday night and circling the yard - it would be best if he could find Mason's bike. If not, he would finally finish the longest journey of anticipation in the week and feel relieved.
Throughout the summer, there was no rain in City C. The summer wind swept up the endless heat, always lingering over the city for a long time. Until this Saturday, starting from the second evening self-study, it suddenly rained heavily. It started with a frightening thunder, which startled the usually calm class into a commotion. The heavy rain was so fierce that the temperature dropped sharply. The rain even produced mist, which rose from the ground, attracting many people to gather around the windows to watch. Noah used this evening self-study to simulate a timed comprehensive science test for himself, so he didn't pay much attention to the sudden heavy rain. It was only after school that he was trapped by the rain when he wanted to go to the carport to pick up his car.
The sound of the rain was so loud that it even covered up the voices of people who were calling their parents.
"Why."
