To put it simply, availability refers to two situations: the first is that the victim's lifestyle makes him or her vulnerable to abduction; the second is that no one cares about him or her after abduction or murder. Jiang Changsheng, Wang Tao, Zhu Jianwei, and Tyler do not fall into these two situations, so the murderer did not consider "availability" when considering the issue.

Vulnerability refers to the degree to which the victim is vulnerable to attack. The four were all adult men. Jiang Changsheng was a vegetable farmer and was physically strong; Tyler was a social worker who carried a knife and a gun; Zhu Jianwei was tall and liked outdoor activities; only Wang Tao was a little weak and was the only one who was stabbed. From this perspective, the murderer did not consider whether his opponent was vulnerable to attack.

Desirability refers to the victim meeting the killer's preferences, which may involve characteristics of the victim, or other motives, or other characteristics.

Owen stood up and wrote the word "consistency" in the blank space between the four names. He said, "We have actually been looking for consensus. How did the murderer connect these four people? This is the key to the case. Unfortunately, we have not found it yet."
