After Shen Zhui and Yu Fan were dismissed, the position of Dean of the School of Mathematics became vacant all of a sudden.
According to convention, the position of dean is promoted from the current vice-deans. There are currently three vice-deans in the School of Mathematics, Xu Kong, Yang Shen and Luo Song.
When Xu Kong was parachuted into Xing University, he directly rejected the position of dean. In the following selection, it was basically equivalent to giving up. The only two left to compete were Yang Shen and Luo Song.
It is hard to say what the results of this selection will be.
In recent years, Yang Shen has focused more on teaching students, and has published fewer papers and established fewer scientific research projects. Luo Song, on the other hand, has produced more papers, but he teaches courses in two departments at the same time: the School of Mathematics and the School of Chemistry, among which the School of Chemistry is his main focus. The two sides are evenly matched, so it is difficult to say who will become the dean.
