Simon stayed by Owen's side all night. As dawn approached, he finally couldn't hold on any longer and fell into a deep sleep beside the bed.
When he woke up again, his eyelids were still tight, and the first thing he heard was the deliberately low-pitched conversations around him.
Simon blinked belatedly, then his mind returned to normal and he suddenly raised his face from his arms.
The person on the bed could sense it whenever he moved.
Owen whispered "wait a moment" to the doctor who was making rounds, then lowered his eyes to look at Simon, who was still bewildered, with a hint of a smile in his eyes: "Have you had enough sleep?"
