The first day of reporting was far from as easy as I had imagined.
Simon entered the school with the glorious title of the top scorer in the high school entrance examination. Right after the roll call, he was called to the principal's office by the grade director for a private talk. The director hoped that he would set an example for the freshmen and had high hopes for his future. He was also asked to prepare in advance and to speak on stage as a representative of the freshmen at the opening ceremony three days later.
When I returned to the classroom, the book distribution had already ended. There was a pile of books neatly stacked on each table, and all the students stood up and stood on the podium, rearranging their positions according to their height.
The girls in the front half of the classroom had already sat down, leaving most of the boys standing. When Simon entered the classroom, he was glared at for a few times, and then told: "Simon, please sit in the same seat as before."
Simon had no objection, nodded and went back to sit down.
