The heavy rain continued all night. In the early morning of the next day, the first ray of sunshine broke through the dark curtain, and the dusty grassland in the past was covered with green. The transparent dewdrops on the grass blades attract early-rising insects. In just one night, the entire delta is covered with a new layer of vibrant green.
Herbivores have come out of the only small piece of pasture left in the dry season. The new young grass is their best food. The wildebeest herd in the distance also smells the rain. Together with hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, they will head towards the Gangsa River. Wherever there is ample green grass and water, these nomadic armies will appear.
Several giraffes had already crossed the Gangsa River before the wildebeest herd. Although the river swelled after a heavy rain overnight, crossing the river was no problem for them, the tallest people on the grassland. The experienced giraffe led the others to a relatively safe place in the fast-flowing river. Although they do not migrate with the seasons, the green grass and young leaves still attract them to cross the Gangsa River.
The arrival of the giraffes brings good news to the crocodiles, the underwater giants in the Gangsa River. They are about to usher in the most rare feast of the year. After eating this meal, they can go without food for several months.
The migration of the wildebeest army is not a one-way one, but a round-trip. The rainy season has come earlier this year. At this time of year, the delta is still dry and yellow, so they all stay in the pasture on the other side of the Gangsa River. This year is different, they can eat green grass in advance. The crocodiles in the river can also eat this meal in advance.
