The festive atmosphere is getting stronger!
The streets of Hong Kong Island are full of people busy preparing for the New Year. Shops and stores are decorated with lights and colors to coincide with the parade, while also stocking up on more goods.
This year is the third year since the restoration of the country. Life is recovering. Children from better-off families put on new clothes early, and those from less well-off families try to dress cleanly. They are all happily preparing to welcome the New Year.
A wealthy family, with delicious food, fresh clothes and a happy new year, is full of joy;
Even street wanderers can find leftovers from restaurants and have a meal together in groups of three or four.
