On October 10, 1911, our ancestors launched the Wuchang Uprising, which became the first successful republican uprising since the late Qing Dynasty.
The Wuchang Uprising marked the beginning of the Xinhai Revolution. Within two months of the uprising, uprisings in various parts of China succeeded one after another, eventually overthrowing the Qing Dynasty and establishing the Republic of China on January 1, 1912, becoming the first universally recognized republic in East Asia.
This day is the anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution, also known as Double Tenth Day.
For many people at that time, Double Tenth Day was no less important than New Year's Day.
From the 1950s to the 1970s, many riots in Hong Kong were related to the Double Tenth Day.
