Zhao Qiming built his new home in two days (as fast as building a chicken coop). Gu Fan is the only helper. They took advantage of the east gable of a school building and used tree sticks to prop up a roof that reached straight to the ground. The north side is built with adobe. Half of the south side is built as a base, and the other half is used as a door for entry and exit. The shack-style new home is the product of Zhao Qiming's last physical labor. Although the grass raising technology is not up to standard, the roof slope is very steep, and the rain cannot stop but rolls down, so it does not leak.

Zhao Qiming gave all the farm tools to Gu Fan (she still needed them), and only took a shovel for himself to use for shoveling snow in the future. He added a bicycle and a semiconductor. The woolen tunic suit his father gave him was also dug out from the bottom of the box. Now Zhao Qiming feels like a clothes hanger. The clothes hanger has its back straight and its chest straight. There are two pocket flaps on the forward chest. There are three pens pinned to the left pocket flap. Zhao Qiming's new image also includes a gray woolen scarf more than two meters long, which is wrapped around his neck three times and hangs down from the chest (right side) for a long time. He always carries a first-year junior high school English textbook under his arm, his hair is parted in the middle and slightly pulled back, and the smell of sweat on his body is miraculously covered up by the soap. The skin is getting whiter and finer, and the whiter it is, the finer it is. On the basis of whitening, the cheeks regain the function of blushing in some cases. The calluses on the hands that were lying behind my back gradually faded away.

From then on, Zhao Qiming never left Yangzhuang Primary School. Every day’s walks also change the scene, from river embankments, bridgeheads, and sunbathing areas to this fixed location: the school campus. The so-called campus is an open space surrounded by four rivers. It is not much different from other local gardens (they are also surrounded by rivers on all sides and an earthen ridge provides access). It became a campus just because no crops were planted and no one settled down. There are three rows of brick school buildings in the open space of the campus (other than that there is not a single tiled house within a radius of twenty miles), and a compacted and flat mud playground. There are wooden basketball stands at both ends of the playground. These are what Zhao Qiming loves deeply.

Every day after work, Gu Fan came back from the fields. He often didn't have time to put down his pole or hoe, so he would grab firewood to cook for Zhao Qiming. Blue smoke came out of the entrance to the shack and the cracks in the wall. The entire shack became a chimney, and she developed her fiery eyes (red and swollen eyes, flashing tears) inside. After dinner and washing up, she went out for a walk with him. They strolled through the school buildings, then came to the playground and circled the basketball hoop. The new and old audiences in Yangzhuang can only face each other across the river. Because of the clear line between reality and reality, drama can truly be born.

During the day, if Zhao Qiming needs to go to the county town to do errands or come to Xiaosong's house (another brigade), he will ride his bicycle. He got on the bus from the school playground, rode across the ridge road (bridge entrance) and onto the village road. If you encounter animals such as sheep or buffalo blocking the road, hug any tree on the roadside and wait for your vehicle. The situation is like waiting at a red light at an intersection in town. Anyway, Zhao Qiming has made up his mind: he will never let his feet set foot on Yangzhuang's land again. Yangzhuang Primary School is not included in the calculation due to its different nature.
