From the beginning of writing this novel, I imagined that Zhao Qiming was a character from the past. The so-called "past" does not mean that I have any interest in specific historical encounters. Contrary to people's efforts in reality, Zhao Qiming is not moving towards the future, he is just becoming the past. The divide is between self-compassion and different ways of showing compassion for others, two very different emotions. The question is which emotional way of describing the fate is real? The answer lies outside the novel. My attempt is only to make Zhao Qiming's self-pity the object of others' pity, so that the character gradually moves from the present with a future to the past. "This character was gradually pushed into the past and became a black spot in the background." ------I wrote in my notes.

As for the specific technical ideas, you can still see the relevant notes: "...So Komatsu stole the perspective from there and turned Zhao into a character in his own perspective. Komatsu's narrative position is different. He is located at the end of things, Therefore, there is a distance from things, creating a huge blank or space. Zhao is one with things, and his narrative is an existing 'I' that integrates time and space. "

In fact, the fight to steal the perspective from Zhao Qiming had already begun, and it was not just Komatsu (the author took the lead). Only later did "past" as a crucial quality appear in Zhao Qiming.

I am as concerned as everyone else: Is Zhao Qiming at this moment already in the past?

Since Xiaosong transferred to Nanjing, Zhao Qiming has no good reason to go to Xiaosong's house. Coupled with the indifference of Xiaosong's father and the tracking of Yangzhuang's vicious dogs and rocks on the way, it would be better to lie down in the shack and sleep. Zhao Qiming wished he was bedridden and didn't have to take English classes. Thinking this way, he really had vivax malaria, was ill for twenty days, and almost died. Of course, if you really want to die, it won't be from illness, but from starvation. In those days he ate more quinine than grains of rice. In desperation, he thought that he might be able to return to the city due to illness, so he even stopped taking quinine. It was four male laborers from Yangzhuang who carried him into the county town (lying on a stroller, the soil of Yangzhuang was still wet on the soles of his shoes). Instead of going to the county hospital, he went to the county bus station. They put him on a long-distance bus to Nanjing. Now if Zhao Qiming were to die, he would not die on the land of Yangzhuang. Both sides felt the conspiracy had succeeded. So the breakup was amicable, even sentimental. Everyone shed tears and blurred their eyes.
