During the Three Kingdoms period, the Xianbei tribes took advantage of the war in the Central Plains to migrate south and enter the Gaopingchuan area with abundant water and grass.

After that, the Qifu tribe clashed with the Lujie tribe. After many battles, the latter was defeated and fled to Lueyang. The neighboring nomadic tribes were intimidated by the strength of the Qifu tribe and successively became dependent on and integrated with it. During the Western Jin Dynasty, the Qifu Xianbei tribe gradually became more prosperous, reaching a maximum of more than 70,000 people.

With the rise of the Murong Xianbei and Di people, the nomadic area of   the Qifu tribe was continuously compressed and the good days gradually faded away.

After several consecutive attacks, the Qifu tribe was completely defeated by the Murong tribe. They did not dare to easily set foot in the territory of Yan State. After discussion within the tribe, they all migrated and joined the Di people.
