Although he was not afraid of Dumbledore, he had great power but knew very little about the world. He still needed to study at Hogwarts and learn more about the wizarding world.
More importantly, he thought it was fun!
Moreover, Harry heard that the Dark Lord Voldemort who killed his parents was also a graduate of Hogwarts. Harry also wanted to see if he could find any traces left by this damn guy...see if he could use this to track him down and find him.
