It is worth mentioning that although the Sarutobi clan and the Shimura clan were not as powerful as the Senju and Uchiha clans in the Warring States Period, they were also considered powerful and influential clans.
When Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha joined forces to establish Konoha, both of them were excited about the joining of the Sarutobi clan and the Shimura clan.
If it was not a big family, but just an ordinary small family, then the reaction would be obviously excessive.
The two major families can barely be considered the founding fathers of Konoha, but of course their contributions are definitely second to those of the Senju and Uchiha families.
