The men squatted on the river bank in groups of three or four and watched for nearly five minutes. The sky above the ancient town was getting dark. The wooden pile was still as long as it should be. No matter how hard the crane-faced master who was driving the pile swung the hammer, the wooden pile that determined whether the bridge could be passed would not sink. There was no substantial progress, just a show.
Peter Pan was tired, so he stood up from the ground and pointed at the Crane-faced Master: "He is just an actor!"
