When Lin Yang woke up the next day, the girl was still sleeping quietly, as if she had been through a long journey and was very tired. Lin Yang did not want to wake her up, so she got out of bed quietly and went to a distant stream to wash her face. There were fish in the stream, and she wanted to catch one, but after struggling for a while, she returned empty-handed.

The hut was silent. Lin Yang's heart trembled when he pushed the door open. He ran two steps inside and saw the thin little figure on the bed. He began to feel relieved. He walked to the table and sat down. He poured himself a glass of water and looked at the person not far away while drinking. Before he finished the water, he felt something was wrong. The girl's body was curled up tightly, as if... she was in great pain.

Lin Yang paused, walked to the bedside hesitantly, bent down to look at her carefully, and found that the girl was really sick. Her head was lowered, and her body was curled up. Her hair was spread out behind her, with a few wet strands sticking to her neck. Her forehead was covered with fine cold sweat, and her face was unnaturally flushed. Lin Yang observed for a moment, carefully reached out his hand to poke her lightly, and immediately retracted it because her body was too hot.

In Lin Yang's limited self-awareness, this was an illness. She looked at the girl, not knowing what to do. She had been sick before, but she just endured it. She would still feel uncomfortable for a few days, but would slowly get better. Lin Yang stood awkwardly in front of the bed for a while, and finally sat back at the table, waiting for the girl to "get better" on her own.

However, waiting was not so easy. The girl kept huddled up with her eyes closed, as if she was trying her best to endure the pain. Lin Yang watched her for a moment and could not help but go back to the bed and stare at her anxiously. She sat and stood like this until noon. Lin Yang finally couldn't wait any longer. She realized belatedly that the girl was different from herself. She couldn't make it and would die.
