Several large ships sailed to the North Pole; their purpose was to discover the boundary between land and sea, and at the same time to test how far mankind could go forward. They had been sailing in fog and ice for several years and had suffered a lot. Now winter has begun and the sun is gone. The long nights would last for weeks.
Surrounded by endless stretches of ice. The ship was frozen in the middle of the ice. The snow piled high; people built hive-like huts from the snowdrifts, some of which were very large, like our ancient tombs (Note: This refers to some prehistoric ancient tombs (Kaempeh Aie) existing in Europe). They are larger than ordinary ones. The tombs are big.); some are even bigger and can accommodate three or four people. But it's not all pitch black here; the Northern Lights shine out in red and blue, like huge, everlasting fireworks. The snow shines brightly, and nature is like the colorful clouds at dusk.
When the sky is at its brightest, local natives come out in droves. They were wearing furry leather jackets and looked very novel. On sleds made of ice, they transported bales of hides so that their igloos could be carpeted with warmth. These animal skins can also be used as quilts and mattresses. Sailors could sleep wrapped in these quilts when it was freezing outside and colder than our harsh winters.
Where we live, it’s still fall. Living in the ice and snow, they couldn't help but think of this incident. They remembered the sunshine in their hometown, and at the same time they also remembered the red leaves hanging on the trees. The hour hand on the clock indicated that it was night and time for bed. In fact, two people were already lying down in the igloo to sleep.
The younger of the two carried with him his best and most valuable treasure, a Bible. This was given to him by his grandmother before he left. He put it under his pillow every night, having known what it was about since childhood. He read a short passage every day, and every time he opened it, he read these sacred words that gave him comfort: "If I spread the wings of the morning and fly to the ends of the sea to live, it will be there, your hand You will guide me, and your right hand will sustain me (Note: Quoted from Psalm 139, verses 9-10.)
