Julian Mei spent two weeks of weekends accompanying Lucas Xia and Ava Lin in driving practice. During this period, Lucas Xia and Ava Lin would also find time to practice on their own.
By the third week, the two of them were able to ride their bikes to and from school, but they would ride together as a group of three, with Julian Mei and Lucas Xia standing outside to protect Ava Lin, who was not very experienced yet.
The winter of 2009 was as cold as the previous year, but the weather was mostly sunny, so the ground was not slippery. The three of them rode their bicycles to school together on such days.
Working day and night, getting up early and going to bed late.
Waiting together in the cold wind for a companion who slept in.
