The streets of the royal city were so crowded that people could hardly walk. The food stalls were emitting a fragrant aroma, and little kids gathered around the vendors selling candied haws, standing on tiptoes and pinching coins, all wanting the biggest and reddest bunch.
In contrast, the palace was a little deserted. This year, Liam did not hold a banquet for the ministers like in previous years, but rewarded them early in the morning, saying that they did not need to come to the palace to pay respects, but to have a reunion dinner with their families.
There was a small warm table, a few dishes and a pot of wine. Liam sat in the hall, staring at the snowflakes falling outside in a trance.
Si Xi reminded: "Your Majesty, the food is getting cold."
Liam asked: "Is there any more wine?"
