Unlike other penguins, emperor penguins do not need to build nests. Female penguins protect their eggs between their feet and hide them under their brooding flippers. The male penguins incubate the eggs while they forage. The emperor penguin's muscles can still regularly control the incubation temperature in the freezing cold of -30 degrees Celsius.
